Q:
Are Nippon Express cost estimates free of charge?
A:
We provide estimates of moving costs without charge. Please feel free to ask us for an estimate.
Q:
We have not decided where we will be living at our next destination, but can we still ask you to provide a cost estimate?
A:
Even if you do not know your new address exactly, we can provide an estimate, if you provide the name of the city where you will moving.
Q:
I still have three months before I will be moving, but can you provide a cost estimate?
A:
If you provide us with a general description of your planned move, we can give you a cost estimate. Alternatively, if your move is three months from now, we can visit your current home and survey the volume of the articles you will be taking with you.
Q:
How long does it generally take for you to survey my current dwelling and gather information on the volume of articles?
A:
That will depend on the amount of baggage and other belongings you will be taking with you, but usually it takes between 30 minutes and one hour for the survey.
Q:
Are there any articles that you do not accept for moving? Also, are there articles for which you require advance notice?
A:
Please note that we cannot accept certain articles for transport. These include cash, securities, bank passbooks, official seals, precious metals, and dangerous articles (including petroleum, highly flammable gases, poisons, and substances with offensive odors). When shipping expensive items with a value of ¥300,000 or more per article or set of such articles, works of art, or antiques, please enter the value of such articles in the space provided on the cost estimate form or on the form we provide for declaring the value of household articles. After filling in this information, we request that you please sign or place your seal on the form. If you have other items that are particularly valuable to you, please provide this information in advance to the Nippon Express Moving Planner in charge of your account.
Q:
Can you transport automobiles and motorcycles?
A:
We can transport them, but we have a number of matters to explain to you related to the transportation of these items. Please ask us for the details.
Q:
Is it necessary for us to be present when you pick up and deliver our articles?
A:
In the case of some moving activities, we have to query our customers about certain matters, ask for their understanding, or make other inquiries. To avoid any difficulties that may arise, we always request our customers to be present when we move their articles. If you yourself cannot be present, we request that you ask someone to be present in your stead.
Q:
Should we give tips or provide meals for the moving personnel?
A:
Tipping is not a common practice in Japan, so our personnel will not expect to receive any gratuity.
Q:
We still have some carton boxes of another moving company that were left over from our previous move. Is it all right to use these this time?
A:
There are no restrictions on the type of carton boxes to be used. So, if you have other boxes, please feel free to use them.
Q:
If we should have to cancel our moving arrangements, how many days advanced notice do we have to give?
A:
Please provide us with at least two days’ notice, and you will not be charged a cancellation fee. If you must cancel on the day prior to, or on the day of the scheduled move, please note that under the moving contract you will be charged a fee.
Q:
If we have other questions, what is the best way to contact you?
A:
Please contact us using the Inquiry form.
